Readers send the thoughts that stay with them. Some of them get a second look right here, in the open — every name stays private.
I read every letter myself. Some letters are long, and that is welcome. When I believe your story can help other people too, I answer it here in public and anonymously. I change names, places and details.
A question is a short topic suggestion: what should I rethink next? One line is enough. Everyone can vote, and the topic with the most votes lands on my desk and becomes my next Rethink.

My partner wants to move in together after eight months. We have a great time on weekends, and I love waking up next to them. When I imagine sharing every single day, my stomach flutters, half excitement and half nerves. My partner is ready and says the timing feels right. I would love to say yes with a full heart. I wonder how people know that they are ready, and how I can tell the difference between healthy nerves and a real signal. What helped you or other couples make this step?
Nervous and excited often arrive together. A good test is a trial run: stay together for two weeks at one place, share the chores, and notice how your body feels in the evenings. Talk about the space you each need for yourselves, including time alone. Readiness grows from small shared experiments, and you can decide together how the next step looks.
My partner would love to be intimate several times a week, and I am happy with less. We care about each other, and the topic has started to hang over our evenings. When my partner reaches out, I sometimes feel pressure, and then I pull back. After that my partner feels rejected, and I feel guilty. I would love a rhythm that feels good for both of us. Where do we start? How do we talk about it so that both of us feel heard?
Different appetite is among the most common themes in couples. Start with curiosity: each of you describes what touch, closeness and sex give you. Then build a menu of options, from cuddling to full intimacy, and agree on a weekly rhythm that both of you can say yes to. A small signal, like a word or a gesture, makes asking easy and answering kind.
My girlfriend stays friendly with her ex, and they text now and then. She tells me about it openly, and everything she shares sounds friendly. Still, I feel a knot in my stomach every time her phone lights up with that name. Afterwards I feel silly for feeling it. I would love to trust calmly. How can I handle jealousy so that it stops running my evening, and what can I tell her?
Jealousy shows what matters to you. Name the feeling to your girlfriend in one sentence, like "I feel a little insecure when you text your ex, and a hug would help me." Ask what would help you feel secure, and offer what helps her feel trusted. When both of you talk about it openly and kindly, the feeling usually softens within weeks.
My boyfriend and I argue about chores every week. Both of us work full time, and both of us feel tired in the evening. I feel like I carry most of the load, especially the planning: groceries, appointments, birthdays. He feels that he does a lot already, and he is right about the tasks he does. I would love a system that feels fair to both of us and leaves our evenings for fun. How can we share the work fairly?
List every task on paper together, including the planning and remembering, since that invisible work counts too. Each of you picks the tasks you enjoy most, then you split the rest by time. Review the list once a month over a nice meal. A fair split feels good to both and keeps the evenings free for connection.
